Sorry, can't help w/transit ?.s. May I suggest u consider lodging at a hostel? Since 1998, I've slept in
hostels worldwide. Currently, volunteer in California hostel since 2005. Previously, also worked there
as live-on-site receptionist. Hostels r great value & wonderful opportunity meet world travelers. With
a Hostel International(HI) membership(adults/seniors), u save $. M/ships good for 1 yr & also offer many benefits. Just go online & type in ...hostels in zacatecas, mexico, click, & see what comes up. A hostel is like a backpacker's motel w/various offers to guests. All hostels r different &, it's unrealistic to expect same benefits/accommodations from all. Not all hostels r HI. Seniors get re-
duced rates age 55+ at HI. Always good idea to: 1st ask to see hostel & bedrooms before deciding to book/ check plumbing/check availability/ask about any applicable rules(lockout/no alcohol/curfew)/in-
outside lockers/public transit access/parking, etc. Good luck!

There's a list of hotels now in our directory: http://www.ourmexico.com/index.php/directory
It only includes ones that have a website, which tend to be the pricier ones. More like $100 per night.
The official government site for the state of Zacatecas has a comprehensive list, arranged by star-rating: http://www.zacatecas.gob.mx/
Click on "Turismo" and then "Hoteles". It's in Spanish, but pretty easy to figure out. The ones rated 2-3 stars should be close to your price range.

I'd fly from Albuquerque to Guadalajara and take the ETN bus to Zacatecas. You'll find the ETN schedules at http://www.etn.com.mx.

I fly to Guadalajara and taken the bus to Zacatecas. Omnibus de Mexico is about $30.00. The city I visit is Fresnillo, about 30 miles from Zacatecas. At the bus station in Fresnillo there are always direct buses to Juarez, but I don't know any more. I stay with friends there so I don't know anything about hotels.
