Speed Trap-San Luis Potosi

Postby conklinwh on Sun Aug 02, 2009 5:14 am

We love Mexico but hate morditas. We have now heard direct from multiple people that there is a focus on expats driving through San Luis Potosi. Specifically if you take the free road versus the toll by pass, there is a section of 6 lane divided highway as you approach San Luis where the speed limit drops to 40KMH for about two hundred meters. Most people never slow below 80kmh but if you are an expat, you risk being pulled over. They are getting so bold as to ask for the wallet and taking all the cash. This is especially troubling as this is the way to the airport and most people can't wait.

tampico sucked also. i lived there for 5 years in late 80,s early 90,s. the transit cops used to rip off all the central americans traveling south in caravans and solo . and me too. and i lived there. we were almost on a first name basis.they never tired.
