neighborhoods in Guanajuato

Postby edd evans on Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:32 pm

we would like to spend a few weeks in Guanajuata (the city) but know very little about the different neighborhoods. Safe, quiet, near the center, tree lined street etc. We have been there but only for a day trip from SMA . So renting a house or apt. would be risky. Any help would greatly appreciated. ------thanks --edd evans

Dear Edd Evans,

Sounds like you'll be looking for a hotel. I'd suggest you arrive, check in to any hotel, according to your budget, and then walk everywhere. When an area appeals to you ask to see a hotel. Safety comes with common sense and the company one keeps or drinks with. Tree lined likely means near the dam. This is a walking city with lots of courts and parks, not so many tree lined streets. Guanajuato is a beauty and you want to be there for the Cervantino: October 14 to November 1.

If you're on a tight budget, ask about rooms to let in private homes.

Best regards,
