introducing myself

Postby JohnULord on Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:36 pm

Hello all,

My name is John Lord. I am a gringo viejo married to a girl from Puebla. Right now we live outside of NYC, but never stop dreaming about returning to Mexico...especially to the Yucatan. Hope to go back for an extended trip in November.

I am so pleased to have found this site. I would love to hear from anyone in the group with experience traveling or living in Merida or Campeche or those who have interesting news to share about Mayan archaeology and culture.

Looking forward to the conversation!
Cheers,
John and Alma Lord

Dear John Lord,

Americans are buying up properties, haciendas and remodeling them especially in Merida and Progresso. In my mind, Campeche is the most changed city, beautified, since my first visit in 1975. But from my Bus Journey Across Mexico, here are some sights you might wish to visit.

20 Tlaxcala-Puebla
21 Cordoba
22 Coatzacoalcos
23 Tuxtla Gutierrez
24 Sumidero Canyon
25 San Cristobal de Las Casas
26 San Critobal de Las Casa, Chamula
27 Agua Azul, Misol-Ha, Palenque
28 Yaxchilpan and Bonapak
29 Campeche
30 Campeche International Festival
31 Edzna
32 Hacienda Uayamon
33 Camino Real, Uxmal, Franciscan Missions
34 Merida
35 Chichen Itza, Valladolid
36 Chetumal
37 Bacalar, Tulum, Playa del Carmen
38 Cancun Airport
